Martin has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for nearly 25 years after graduating from Essex
University in the U.K. with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biological Chemistry.
Martin worked as a medical representative for Beecham Research in the the U.K. for two years before
becoming a field trainer in the north of England. He moved to Beecham Research International, based in
London, with a series of roles, including managing the antibiotic portfolio.
Following the merger of Beecham with Smith Kline and French, Martin moved to Canada as a product
manager -- working on first antibiotics and then antidepressants. Martin then spent five years as
director of sales/marketing for SmithKline Beecham before moving to Novo Nordisk -- a diabetes-focussed
company -- to be director of sales and marketing.
Martin has been involved in a number of therapeutic areas, including heamotology, dermatology and women's
healthcare products. He has launched a number of innovative products, as well as turned around older,
established products. He has led strategic initiatives and managed a number of strategic partnerships.
His focus for any product has been on the "positioning" of products in the minds of his customers, and this
has lead to further exploration of how candidates for jobs can position themselves in order to get the jobs
they want.
Before partnering to establish Bescot Healthcare Canada Inc. in 2009, Martin left the industry to study
full-time for his MBA at the Schulich School of Business, York University, where he graduated on the Deans
Honors list.
